FOR PARENTS ONLY:

Parents…the fight for the minds of our teenagers has intensified just take time to listen to music, watch a movie or see what is on TV. Below you will find seven MUST KNOW principles that every Middle School Student should understand. One of these seven checkpoints will be the foundation for each worship service, retreat or activity. We believe that if every student’s life is based on these checkpoints we have equipped them to face the battle for their souls.

SEVEN CHECKPOINTS

Checkpoint #1: Authentic Faith

Critical Question: Are your students trusting God with the critical areas of their lives?

Key Passage: Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.

Checkpoint #2: Spiritual Disciplines

Critical Question: Are your students developing a consistent devotional and prayer life?

Key Passage: Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Checkpoint #3: Moral Boundaries

Critical Question: Are your students establishing and maintaining godly moral boundaries?

Key Passage: 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.

Checkpoint #4: Healthy Friendships

Critical Question: Are your students establishing healthy friendships and avoiding unhealthy ones?

Key Passage: Proverbs 13:20 He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.

Checkpoint #5: Wise Choices

Critical Question: Are your students making wise choices in every area of their lives?

Key Passage: Ephesians 5:15-17 See that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Checkpoint #6: Ultimate Authority

Critical Question: Are your students submitting to the authorities God has placed over them?

Key Passage: Romans 13:1-2 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

Checkpoint #7: Others First

Critical Question: Are your students putting the needs of others ahead of their own?

Key Passage: Philippians 2:3-4 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interest, but also for the interest of others.
